Erfahren Sie alle Geheimnisse des Gyokuro Kiwami Sakamoto

The Gyokuro Kiwami Sakamoto represents the pinnacle of Mr. Sakamoto’s artistry. The word Kiwami (極み) translates to “ultimate” or “peak”, and this gyokuro truly lives up to its name. By combining his decades of organic farming expertise with careful leaf selection, Mr. Sakamoto has created a tea that captures the deepest possible expression of umami.

This is a gyokuro designed for tea lovers who want to experience intensity without compromise — a bold, concentrated flavor that lingers long after the last sip.

Schmecken

We evaluate the Gyokuro Kiwami Sakamoto not just by taste, but through aroma, texture, and how it develops across the palate.

Schritt 1 – Beobachten des Erscheinungsbildes

The leaves are a striking, jet-green color with a glossy surface, rolled into uniform, needle-shaped strands. Their appearance already hints at the precision and care put into shading and processing.

Schritt 2 – Beurteilung des Aromas

Once infused, the leaves release apotent fragrance of seaweed, spring vegetables, and subtle florals. A touch of sweetness balances the savory intensity, preparing the senses for the richness of the brew.

Schritt 3 – Verkostung des Tees

The first sip is powerful — a burst of umami richness, almost brothy, with a thickness that coats the palate. As the flavors unfold, subtle sweetness of sugarcane and a mineral clarity appear, providing contrast to the savory depth. The finish is clean yet persistent, with hints of steamed greens and nori.

Schritt 4 – Beurteilung des Gaumengefühls

The mouthfeel is dense, velvety, and luxurious, leaving a lasting impression on the tongue. This intensity makes Gyokuro Kiwami particularly suited for slow, mindful sipping in small quantities — each cup feels like a rare treat.

100 % biologisch angebaut und aus ethischen Quellen bezogen

Like all of Mr. Sakamoto’s teas, the Gyokuro Kiwami Sakamoto is grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Instead, he relies on his self-developed organic compost that strengthens the cellular structure of the plants and allows them to thrive under long shading periods.

This organic approach doesn’t just yield better tea — it also protects the delicate ecosystem around his tea fields, encouraging earthworms, beneficial insects, and natural soil health.

Notwendiges Teegeschirr

For everyday brewing, a kyusu teapot works perfectly. Its side handle and mesh filter make preparation smooth and convenient.

For an elevated experience, a shiboridashi highlights gyokuro’s concentrated umami with small, elegant servings. If you lack specialized teaware, a simple strainer works too — though the flavor won’t be as concentrated.
